Ruenell’s concept for these pieces was that, as people are being forced to live in small spaces with little or no connection to the outside world, an endwall of a room is painted to depict an outdoor view. Flower wallpaper – some of it expressed only by heavy impasto – and, in some cases colorful rugs - are intended to reinforce the room end concept.
